RACE Charities raises over $100,000 for Fred Hutch Grady Lab digital PCR System!

RACE Charities was honored to present a check for over $100,000 to Dr. William Grady of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). RACE Charities and its representatives worked together in early 2013 to raise significant funds dedicated to the worthy cause of advancing colon cancer early detection science. FHCRC is one of the world’s leading cancer research institutes and Dr. William Grady’s laboratory is leading the way in colon cancer biomarker early detection methodology.

To help advance Dr. Grady’s research via cutting edge technology- FHCRC used the donation received from RACE to purchase a state-of-the-art digital PCR system, which has equipped Dr. Grady with a versatile laboratory technology that will accelerate his search for biomarkers and greatly enhance the development of highly sensitive, accurate and potentially lifesaving tests for detecting colon cancer.

Friday, July 26, 2013 Jeromy Gensch, Jake Kraft and Gary Gensch present their gift, in memory of Glorianna Gensch, to Dr. Grady and his team. The gift, was designated to purchase the QX200 Droplet Digital PCR system, which will help Dr. Grady identify trace molecules, called biomarkers, that signal colon polyps and early stage colon cancer. As potentially powerful indicators of disease, candidate biomarkers can form the basis of effective, safe and simple methods for detecting life-threatening cancer early.

In Glory's words-

If just one life is saved, the sacrifices we all make will be worth it.
