Fred Hutch $10,000 Donation

RACE Donates over $10,000 to the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center

RACE Charities donated over $10,000 to help advance colon cancer early detection research. We were excited to tour the Dr. Paul Lampe lab and learn about his team’s progress over the past year as they strive to take the lead in the area of blood-based protein biomarkers used to discover colon cancer! The specific aim of Dr. Lampe’s research is to discover the best early detection biomarkers for colorectal cancer. His lab is currently testing and will hopefully validate five protein biomarkers that have been confirmed in multiple sets of samples. His goal is to develop a test that improves on existing fecal tests, such as FIT and Cologuard, for use in people unwilling to undergo or with no access to colonoscopy. The RACE Charities donations help fund his efforts to build much needed antibodies for these tests. The Lampe lab wants to use their own monoclonal antibodies because it helps to solve the issue of passing on assays to commercial interests when they get to this phase.

If just one life is saved, the sacrifices we all make will be worth it.
